CNY PREP

I kind of realized the prev post was not too cny-ish and so I decided to do a small post abt CNY preparations!
Basically 3 things to do:

1.Cleaning

OBVS not done by me.

*Daddy has a head full of white hair =/ At least he is not balding:P

2.Decorating

*Um. ignore my jeans

3.Face stuffing

All of these are what is going to make me super duper fat. Starting from the left: Those tube like things are deep-fried crispy spring roll things with sia mi (spicy dried shrimp) or ba hu(pork floss). The leaf shaped thing is a covered pineapple tart made by Wayne's (bf) mum. Those flat rectangle things next to it are seaweed crisps. The first two balls are some ba hu cookies (cookies with pork floss) and the 3rd ball is a sugee cookies (milk and ghee cookies). The chocolate thing is some cookie with a chocolate layer topped with mini hearts fondant. The rose-shaped thing is a covered pineapple tart made by mum. The leaf-shaped thing with icing sugar on top is this cookie with a peanut filling inside and next to it is an 'open' pineapple tart, both bought from my tuition's kid's mum. And the long cigar thing is a chocolate filled cream wafer! The picture below is an almond cookie. I missed it out when i took the 'cny goodies family portrait' and also an excuse to show you my pretty nails! (again)
These are the most amazing cream wafers ever!
Only tried the choc one so far though!

NO MORE EATING!*Thanks to Char for taking such a nice pic:)

Yes. I believe this is more cny-ish. will update with a cny post if i look gd in the pictures. HAHA

Happy Chinese New Year again!:)

No Mean Feet

"the first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me!my choice. for you. this offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
- what I create will be just for you
- it'll be done this year. no guarantees when, it will be a total surprise!
- you have no clue what it's going to be. it may be poetry. I may draw or paint something. I may bake you something and mail it to you. maybe a beanie. who knows?
not you, that's for sure!
- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.
the catch? oh, the catch is that you have to repost this, and repost right away. we can all make stuff and make someone's day a little bit brighter"
***********************************************************************************
WOW.
My first post that is not GAT!:P

There wont be any GAT this week cos i met the bf two days for shopping, Sunday is reunion dinner and this:

means that I cannot go ruining my pretty nails:P

I wanted to post a picture of my painted toes but they decided to look like red dates growing on a gremlin's feet today so no pictures. (I bet if the bf was reading this he would probably put his hand in the air and say: " Yes, Amen. Finally, you agree that your human feet were probably swapped for a troll's when you were born.") OK. Maybe not. He is not that mean.

*raises eyebrows

BUT. he does think my feet are like Ohsougly.

Enough about feet.

Sorry for any kind of incoherence. I blame the pineapple tart and new year goodies binging.
Finally, Happy Chinese New Year All.

Not a very pretty picture i know but its the most recent one i have:P

GAT 3

Seems like the only time i update is when i update about my GATs nowadays!
Anyway.

I made Chicken Rice Casserole! The next time if i do make this, it will be served with a salad of some kind with either EVOO or lemon-honey dressing. It tastes pretty much like a Chicken rice+risotto.

I forgot like an idiot that my bf is not a fan of risotto and so he did not really enjoy his treat that much :(

My family did like it though and this:

Brother 1: Who is she packing the rice for?
Brother 2 rolls his eyes and mutters OMG under his breath.
Mum: Ni hai yao wen? ta zhu dong xi, shen sia de cai gei wo men chi lor.
(Isn't it obvious? AND. When she cooks, we only get to eat if there are leftovers!)
Dad: Hai yao gei ren? zhi ji chi dou bu gou le hai yao gei ren??
(What? She still wants to give it to other poeple when we do not have enough to eat?!)
Me: There's still like half a pot left, DAD.
Brother 1: He has his own tupperware?!
Me: No.Two.

GAT 2

Get-a-treat day was early this week!

My weekends seem to be really packed but they are all kind of those unconfirmed plans which makes me very irritated.
So unsure if I am going to meet the bf on Sunday, i gave him his treat on Thursday night!

Made some Hungarian Apricot bars but they turned out pretty bad:(
No matter!
I had leftover almond meringue topping from those and it tasted sooo good!

My bf thinks it tasted like honeystars. Compliment Y/N?

On another note, i played gooseberry yesterday but it was FUN! Do it again sometime L:)
P.S What do people get mums for their birthdays?

GAT 1

Its sunday today. (Well technically it is monday now)
That means its boyfriend day.
But.
Starting from today which is the first sunday of 2009, Sundays will be get-a-baked-treat-day for the boyfriend.
GAT for short.
This week its Buttery Jam Cookies!

To be honest, making these were not very easy and i did not really the taste of it very much so i definitely would not be making these again.
He liked it though, which is good.

P.S School is starting next week. S.i.g.h

I was ransacking my head for a nice name for my first post of 2009 and i really could not think of any that does not sound cheesy or trite so what better name than no name?

Even though its the new year, due to my laziness plus "out-of-towness", this post would be sooooo last yearr!

1. Brownies!
Again. I made lots in the last weeks of 08. Special delivery to JT at the airport. That boy is in love with these mint brownies. So is Pete and the bf of course. Just one picture.

08: Cousin's Birthday Celebration at Grandma's

As much as i would like to say let us embrace all the changes that will be coming our way as the old year gives way to the new, I like this phrase more: "Some things never change." :)

Happy 09!

P.S Do people have a preference for an odd or even-numbered year?
